Aitor Sabuquillo Mesa stands out in the production of traditional coatings such as whitewashed plasters and lime paints in a purely artisanal way. Realizes and rehabilitates facade and interior coatings with traditional air lime mortar mixed with aggregates from different origins, always prioritizing proximity. The pigmentation is carried out with quality mineral pigments. Aitor, faithful defender of the artisanal process of making the dough, makes customized formulas based on supports (moisture, orientation) and the customer's demand. Having studied graphic design gives you the background and knowledge to offer unique designs both in terms of color and graphics that are highly valued in decoration. Having lived in Menorca for the past 8 years, he has been able to get to know in depth the quarries and the aged lime produced by the native caleros in the traditional way. This prompted him to be critical when selecting the base materials for his formulas and to prioritize materials with low environmental impact both in their production and in their transport. He has been able to refine historical techniques that have been implemented in the island territory such as the whitewashing of facades, cocciopesto, lime painting, fire ironing and graffiti.
LEARN
Aitor Sabuquillo learned the basics of masonry with his father and then went on to study graphic design as an adult. In History of Art he discovered sgraffito, fresco painting and other stuccos, which motivated him to take up masonry and start training as a professional plasterer. It is linked to the defense of the recovery of traditional trades. She has received training in different schools and collaborated with other teachers in the field.
